As I went to the sunny Southern California beach I was startled as I was almost hit by this heavy wood plank as a wave crashed down on me. I pulled the plank out of the water and out of harm's way.
This brought the reminder that only a year or so ago that the tragedy of March 11th destroyed lives, homes, towns and crippled a nation. Below is a news story that also details what many people are finding along the coast, washing up on beaches, in some cases a fearful reminder of what happens when nature shows its fury.
It is encouraging to know that the Japanese are working hard to restore what was lost and have been remarkable in their resilience after enduring such a historic disaster. Yet they need our prayers and in some cases assistance to help endure through the psychological damage and trauma that will remain for years, decades, some for the rest of their lives. They will need healing and support from those who are willing to build loving and meaningful relationships with them.
