Future and Technology: Information Overload!

The limits of knowledge are unknown. The ability the human mind has to gather and process information is astounding. In no other time has there been more information available to the average person. It can so easily become something that absorbs our time. The quest for knowledge and understanding is at the forfront of an emerging world wide culture. People can supposedly find answers to most any question at a computer terminal. While this doesn`t mean the answers are necessarily valid, they are enough to satisfy the curiousity of the seeker.

Knowledge is food for the mind. The more we ask and know, the hungrier our minds get. Soon we find ourselves overloaded with information, gorged on opinions, ideas, and statistics. Then we process this information into complete ideas(knowledge) and apply it to our world (wisdom).

Don`t get me wrong the information is great to have and is a blessing, but it can be a bit of an overload at times. Our time is all we have. The tools of information and knowledge give us certain advantages in life, but they require our devotion and cost us our time.

We have seen with the rise of the internet and globalization great advances in the world today. There is no doubt the information age is here and now, but with this age there is trouble brewing. The need for protection and filtration of information is becoming paramount. Terrorism, spying, hacking, theft, viruses, and many other forms of trouble continue to spawn from this modern development.

Purity will be the cry of saints to come in this era. There will be a great need for wisdom that is pure. Untainted minds will be few and true answers will be harder to recognize. Confusion will be rampant and fear great. Many will long for simplicity and struggle to find it in a complex world governed by information.

The world will become tired eventually and hopefully will come to understand what Solomon said, "All is vanity!"
