Thank you to a Saviour

As I looked out my classroom window, I gazed upon the busy streets below and thought about the many thoughts these busy people must have. Many do not stop and reflect, much less, give thanks to the God of heaven for all their blessings. They are caught in a tide of commerce, social pressure, and vanity. So as I reflected on these things, I paused and gave thanks. I gave thanks because it is not my duty, but my joy! I stopped and gave thanks to God because it does not profit me or give me favor, but that He might be blessed by my gratitude.
In giving thanks to God, there is a powerful emotion released in our hearts. Contained in this emotional release is an abundance of joy, peace, and power. Giving thanks to our Saviour allows us to continue through the darkest seasons of life. For the apostle Paul wrote to "give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thess. 5:18.
For this is what separates us from the heathen, is that we are able to thank God and give Him glory. If we neglect our daily thanksgiving, we should heed this Word as a warning,"For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened." Rom. 1:21.

The darkest times in life may be quickly turned around by giving thanks and glorifying God with our praise. This is the way of the light, may we shine as we humbly continue to thank God. Though we may not posess much, in Christ we possess all things, though we may be stricken, we shall not be destroyed for we are God's eternal bride, let us enjoy the hope of our inheritance in Him today, never ceasing to give thanks to our beloved Saviour.
