Connecting Life with Faith: For the Glory of God

There are many things happening right at this moment to people all around the world.  Children are being born and people are passing away every minute that we live and breathe. We dare not ponder it too long or all would seem to become futile.

We are living in our time, in our generation, seeing each day come to pass with a purpose. We all carry a load, a burden, a cross as we walk out our days on this earth.  Many of us may see great tragedy unfold before us or experience unimaginable horror, or live out our days in confusion and frustration.  When we live for only ourselves and only this life there is bound to be an end, a point where we cease to be...

So what is our end?  What do we tell the child born with birth defects? or the victims of war, or natural disaster?  What words of comfort can we truly offer them?  It is a difficult question, one that should echo in our very soul.  What are we living for?

I offer you words from God`s Word, the Bible.  From the passage of John chapter 9


Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind

1 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

Then Jesus healed the man before many.

There are many mistakes, defects natural or man-made that are the source of our trials.  Bad parenting, or bad DNA, bad decisions, or bad friends... I`m sure we can all play the blame game very well. 

So what does the God-Man Jesus have to say? 

He tells his followers not to look at the problems and trials the way the world does.  Don`t look at the problem and say, "Whose fault is this?" Rather ask, "How is it that the work of God may be displayed in this?"

This is an amazing connection and should change our view of the world.  Throughout our time on earth we will no doubt endure periods of trials and encounter many people who are suffering.  So Jesus gives us a way to look at them, a way to propel our thought process into the realm of God`s will.

People are born, so that the glory of God may be displayed.  The very image of God made to shine through them.  The works they do, the way they are, it is all for His work to be revealed to His creation.

So as we suffer, or as we see others suffer.  Do not lose heart! For God`s purpose, God`s work will be done no matter whose fault it is or was!

Sometimes nodoby is at fault.  There are times things happen to reveal a hidden glorious purpose.  And what can we say to that? In our finite understanding what opinion can we give? 

"For the earth and everything in it belongs to the LORD" 1 Corinthians 10:26

So I take hold of my own cross, the struggles I have and pains in my body and everything else.  And I will remember the cross of Christ this week.  I will remember the words of Christ. "Not my will, but Your will be done"

For All is Truly for the Glory of God.
